THAP is grateful for the many medical and organizational partners and funders that have helped us assist 188 children to date. With their help, THAP is able to fulfill our mission of facilitating and coordinating the pre- and post-operative medical care for children who suffer from heart disease and heart defects.
THAP’s partnerships with U.S. doctors and medical mission teams began in 2006. THAP has provided funding and assistance to a U.S. medical mission team to Kenya a majority of years since then. The U.S. medical mission teams not only conduct an average of 10 surgeries over a 5-7 day period, they also help the Kenyan hospitals and their medical personnel increase their knowledge and ability to perform the latest surgical procedures through donations of newer medical equipment and training of the medical staff.
Currently we are working with the Hearts of East Africa, a U.S. medical mission team led by Dr. Michael Liske from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee that goes to Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, Kenya each year. Since 2014, Hearts of East Africa has successfully operated on twelve THAP children. A February 2017 medical mission is now being planned.
THAP is grateful to our generous organizational and foundation funders who enable us to better serve our families and children who suffer from heart disease and heart defects.
